[0.0s] previously on Dumbgeons and Dragons. [2.5s] I don't think I'm ever not going to be mad at you, but I think that, um, us fighting likely isn't helping our situation. [10.3s] Please don't cut my bird. [11.8s] Okay, yeah, no, I wasn't gonna. [14.8s] Axe swings down over the chains and they snap free. [19.0s] Is this Axe Hoop now, Russ? Is it garbage? [22.5s] Every hit is taking another chunk out of it, as it appears to you. [27.7s] Get. [28.2s] Nighthunter, you're standing in this void space. [32.3s] The bars around you, every time you try to move towards them, feel like you're never getting close to them, to grab them. [39.8s] Well, I mean, I could ask, but then I would not be with you, so... [43.8s] Oh, no, come on, remember our vows. [45.8s] I'm always with you in your heart, so, I mean, wherever you go, I'm gonna be there, so don't worry about that. [51.3s] Yeah, but when we make these vows, one of us did not get sucked into abyss. [55.9s] Oh, that was not normal. That was... [58.4s] Yeah, that was... [59.2s] I don't taste good. [60.2s] Well, I don't. No, that was not... [62.8s] What if, how about we just save the world real quick and then stop coming back here? [66.8s] Save the world and leave forever? [68.2s] You push it open and step out into the hall. [71.4s] There's a long hallway, either side of you, and down at the end, off to your right, as you step out, is a cracked open door. [81.5s] A little bit of light, looks like from a lantern or a torch, um, peering through. [89.4s] The three of you step out, and Grants just kind of tucks his book into his sidebag, and... [96.9s] This night hunter is in here somewhere. [100.3s] I saw her. [104.5s] Welcome to Dumbgeons and Dragons, I'm your dungeon master, Russ More. [107.6s] He, him, also with me today is Karla Maxtad. [111.8s] That's me, she, her, playing Lipsinkie, Pip Diggins. [116.4s] And Tom Laird. [118.2s] Yeah, that's me, he, him, I am playing Bort, slash Flint, they both go with he, him, as well. [124.8s] And Kyle Klassitz here, hey, he, him, glad to be playing Vorunax, also he, him. [130.4s] And... [132.6s] Amy More. [134.1s] Yep, she, her, playing Thea Amastasia, she, her, and Gael Nighthunter, Ogla Kanu. [141.2s] She, they. [142.6s] We are... [146.2s] Yeah, all over the map, we're all over the map. [149.5s] We are, and nowhere. [151.0s] Everywhere and nowhere, we split the party so many different ways, bringing it back [155.2s] together now, uh, where we keep the party together all the time is over on Patreon, [160.4s] Patreon.com slash dumpdragoncast, because we can't live without each other. [165.0s] Uh, Opal can't, Opal can't be... [166.2s] No, I can't have multiple groups happening within the same adventure, are you crazy? [170.8s] Well, there must be constant supervision. [173.0s] When he is alone, he like creates a whole issue with... [178.1s] Yeah, the, the birthday episode. [179.7s] I don't want to spoil anything, but he really, he cannot be trusted on his own. [183.9s] Yeah. [184.4s] Also, there's some very questionable labor practices. [186.7s] Absolutely. [188.5s] Have we told you about the intern wall, Kyle? [190.5s] I mean, you come over, you can... [192.3s] The intern memorial wall. [194.5s] That's the important, the memorial is an important word in there. [198.5s] It's bad, scary over there. [201.2s] Opal's very keen on having unpaid interns, obviously, because it helps the business, [205.5s] you know, uh, but it's a very difficult, uh, industry out there, adventuring, that [211.4s] is, and so interns go missing. [213.6s] Thus, the intern memorial wall, where, you know, any other job, interns aren't going [220.3s] to be memorialized after they leave. [222.9s] No, this is a favor we're doing to them here at the downtown office. [227.2s] Is this Russ talking or Opal talking? [228.9s] He turned right into Opal, like, there wasn't even a... [234.2s] As curator of the, of the intern wall, we all remember intern 003, one of the first. [240.8s] 067, everyone should remember 067, they were a good intern. [247.1s] Yeah, absolutely. [248.4s] There we go. [249.0s] They are all numbers. [249.8s] What do you mean? [250.4s] What's a museum guide called? [252.0s] There's like a proper name for it. [253.3s] A docent. [254.6s] There we go. [255.1s] Yep. [255.8s] As in, I docent remember their names, but I do remember their numbers. [260.6s] So Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [262.6s] You come over and you learn all about the intern Memorial wall. [266.0s] It's really just, is what it is more than anything. [270.3s] But you also get an episode dedicated to you blowing right by that. [274.3s] Emma KB, like Emma KB. [278.0s] Thank you, Emma. [279.6s] Thanks, Emma. [280.2s] It was just an awkward way I got into that sentence, but instead [283.0s] you got your name screamed twice. [284.3s] Twice. [285.1s] Yeah. [286.0s] That's how special you are to us, Emma. [288.2s] For Emma's sake, can you tell me how many pages of paper you have available [294.3s] and how quickly we're all going to be killed because the book's almost done. [298.9s] I said we were on the last nine page last time. [302.4s] So we're on the last blank white page. [306.2s] So there's a double side to it. [308.3s] So we have technically one, two and a half and two thirds. [315.3s] Clear space. [316.2s] Emma, don't worry. [317.8s] Your episode is not worth it. [320.2s] We might even save the world. [322.3s] Boy, how it could be anybody's game is what it could be. [327.4s] Clearly, if there's blank pages, then there isn't an ending written. [330.9s] So it could be anybody saving the world. [333.7s] The rest is still unwritten. [336.0s] The rest is still unwritten. [341.1s] Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [342.8s] Just like Emma KB. [344.8s] And now. [346.5s] Bucket, let's play. [351.0s] OK, all right. [353.9s] Blaring red light. [355.8s] No blaring horn, bright red light. [359.2s] Blaring red light, damn it. [362.2s] Blaring red light. [363.4s] That red light is so loud. [364.6s] Sometimes when lights are red. [366.1s] Lights can be loud. [366.9s] Yeah, lights can be loud. [370.0s] The bright red light. [372.4s] Illuminates the entire space. [376.4s] Echoing over this horn, the screeching sound. [379.6s] Thea, you were moving to put your hand beyond to see if you could see [384.0s] anything additional outside of the spot. [386.7s] Hold question. [389.3s] This is what we were. [390.4s] No, no, I know. [391.8s] But the way that you worded it makes makes me feel like I possibly [396.0s] misunderstood the red light. [399.6s] You can't see. [400.6s] You can't see bad thing outside. [403.2s] OK, Roxanne. [406.8s] Does it just like encompasses your vision? [409.2s] So where is black? [410.7s] Now is red. [411.6s] Now it's red. [412.3s] OK, I was kind of imagining like off in the distance, like a red light. [416.4s] You know, like, you know, like a like a recording on the fuck off [422.3s] the stage, because you've done your five minutes to stand up. [425.0s] Yes. [426.0s] OK, so it's not like that. [427.2s] It's actually like a red wash that comes. [429.5s] Yeah. [430.0s] OK, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. [431.4s] Say OK. [432.6s] As you were moving to put your hand outside of the spotlight. [437.3s] Fingertips, let us say. [439.4s] I'm not going to go whole heart. [440.6s] Look, look, you guys have been standing there for an entire episode. [444.0s] Well, that's a whole other body part. [445.5s] Yeah. [447.8s] It's already tried that. [448.8s] OK, he's put every piece of it there. [452.2s] He's got a cloaca. [453.2s] It's weird. OK. [456.4s] It's efficient, though. [457.6s] I mean, right? [459.6s] Get the job done. [461.0s] Multiple jobs. [463.1s] And as I go to put my hand. [464.4s] Yes. [465.0s] As you do, you see an outline of your hand. [469.9s] Beyond this red light and you feel something grab you [475.3s] and give you a firm handshake, welcoming you to the team. [478.8s] Do we do a secret handshake? [480.4s] Is it is it a grab or is it like or is it like? [484.2s] There's some snaps like a like a wrist grab. [487.5s] Like, yeah, I don't have any weapons on me. [489.3s] You don't have any weapons on you. [490.5s] It is not like a predator grab Arnold Schwarzenegger and. [494.9s] OK, yeah. [495.9s] That the other person that he arm grabs Jesse Ventura. [499.6s] Yeah, yeah. [500.3s] Jesse Ventura. Yep. [501.5s] Jesse, the former governor. [503.4s] Just as soon as I feel something grab hold of me, [507.5s] I want to like with all my very slight [512.4s] elf self, I want to like like like rip it into the light. [518.4s] It's doing the same thing to you. [520.9s] Oh, you're in a tug of war [525.4s] with this thing that now you feel nails digging into your forearm. [530.6s] Oh, I want to dig my nails into its forearm. [533.9s] Its nails are growing through your skin and through your arm. [538.4s] So I am going to cast alter self on myself [542.5s] and I'm going to shape change to those freaky [546.0s] ass long claws that I see lip sinky doing when she goes all primal wild. [551.2s] And I want to sink my closet. [552.8s] I'm not fucking around here. [554.6s] I yell that I'm not fucking around here. [556.7s] And I want to grab and I say, Bort, come on, help do do something. [563.2s] Now we can see an outline of her hand. [565.9s] Can I see the outline of like the other hand in the arm, maybe? [570.4s] Yeah, the light for all intents and purposes, where as it was flashing, [575.0s] the horn would go and then everything would go off. [577.9s] Everything is maintaining itself and it is staying on a lot longer than previous. [584.3s] You can see this shadowy figure [587.9s] holding on to Thea's wrist and these these long nails [593.0s] jagged, like rough nails digging beneath the skin. [598.9s] And there's like this slickness that is now becoming clearer [604.8s] as the spotlight is. [608.6s] Narrowing around you. [611.4s] I mean, I'm going to just grab that axe. [614.0s] That's still somewhat functional and chop off the arm [619.6s] after where she's hanging out. [621.7s] I thought you're going to grab that ass. [623.4s] I'm going to grab that ass, grab that ass, get a grab by your butt. [629.7s] And just like, yeah, just pull that, pull that back in. [633.5s] Today's episode sponsored by the HR department. [637.4s] It exists again. [640.0s] It's rough. [641.6s] Give me an attack roll. [643.7s] It's an 18 plus 14. [646.0s] So that's a 32. [648.3s] The axe swings down [650.3s] and it's like it's cutting through this light before you [653.7s] and it cleaves through the arm on the other side. [657.9s] And Thea, you're you're tugging back on this [660.7s] and you fall backwards now with this forearm attached to the hand [665.1s] that is dug into you. [666.8s] It goes like rigamortis quickly sets in [671.7s] and it is clamped down hard around your hand. [675.8s] And you're the color of your skin is going purple and blue [679.4s] that you see as it pulls back. [682.7s] Spotlight is narrowing down around you. [686.1s] I think we're going to have a problem if this goes out. [690.4s] Yeah, yeah, we. Yeah. [692.5s] Does that seem right? [693.4s] This fucking hurts. [696.5s] I want to. Like. [699.5s] They'll try to like pry this thing off of me if I can. [702.9s] All right, you're trying to pull at the fingers or just pull the whole thing. [705.8s] Oh, God, no, the finger. [707.4s] Well, yeah, we'll pull at the fingers to like, [710.7s] see if we can loosen that up before we pull the whole thing. [713.1s] Trying to pry back the fingers and the flesh around them is ripping. [718.7s] Like it's like it's like serrated knives [723.8s] carved back away towards whatever creature this was. [729.4s] And they're pulling the skin and tendons around them [733.7s] and make a constitution saving throw, please. [737.8s] Yes, you, the affected one. [741.8s] Ten. [744.0s] Thea, you see these nails coming out of your arm [749.2s] and they are pulling and tearing at the tendons and ligaments beneath [755.0s] and you see your hand go limp. [759.2s] Oh, that's not good. That's not good. [760.9s] Don't pull. Don't pull anymore. [762.3s] Don't like shriveling into like this dark black [768.2s] Paul. I've got Dumbledore hands. [770.9s] We cut to the hallway in the jail cells and. [795.6s] Lipsinki and Vorunax and Grancis, [798.0s] you've been walking for what seems like forever. [803.1s] Looking into each cell and seeing a new Grancis [807.4s] or an old Grancis in some new state of disrepair. [814.8s] And over the last minute or so, [819.6s] there's a rumbling in the earth, in the ground beneath you. [824.8s] That's starting to pick up intensive. [828.7s] Do you you recognize that? [830.9s] I don't I don't think I remember hearing that in here before. [837.2s] Not that I recall, but of course, if we were doing a good job, [841.8s] then a certain somebody probably wasn't too angry. [847.4s] Is there a way? [850.2s] Can we get all these Grancis working for us [852.4s] finding Nighthunter? [853.2s] Because I feel like, you know, that's just the three of us [857.5s] kind of looking right now. [859.9s] And right. [863.2s] We have like kind of an unlimited number of Grancis. [868.7s] So you could tap into the Grancis network. [873.2s] Grancis, are you fucking with me or is that possible? [876.2s] We all said hello at the same time one one time ago. [882.4s] Give me a moment. [885.0s] And he he opens his book. [887.3s] It's not on any page. In fact, it's upside down [891.0s] and it sits down on the floor and closes his eyes. [896.6s] Grancis, can you hear me? [900.5s] All of them around them [903.1s] echoing down, not all of them, because most of them are dead. [907.8s] But you hear from different spots. [910.2s] We hear you. [916.9s] I got them wrapped around my finger. [920.8s] That's fantastic, Grancis. [922.6s] You know what? [923.7s] I'm going to belabor upon you for the next 10 minutes [927.2s] how important you are to us right now. [930.2s] And you are just going to feel so inspired by the end of it [934.0s] that you're going to feel a little bit more healthy [937.6s] and definitely able to corral all the other Grancises together behind your cause. [942.5s] Because Grancis, I don't know if you realize this. [946.3s] Out of all the Grancises here, Grandsai. [950.7s] That's the plural. [951.9s] Who's got the book? [954.4s] I got the book. [955.6s] So what does that make you? [957.8s] The book. The Prime Grancis. [959.7s] You've got the book. [961.2s] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. [963.8s] OK, we got it. [964.9s] So you need to let those other Grancises know [966.8s] that they need to tell you where your friend Nighthunter is. [971.0s] OK. Grancises unite. [976.0s] There you go. [977.8s] That's the one. [978.7s] And they all yell. [980.2s] No, I don't want them to fucking marine it. [981.9s] That would be fucking too much. [984.8s] Hoorah! [988.0s] Hoorah! [989.0s] Is what they scream out, because that's more character. [991.0s] That is what they yell out. [994.3s] Hoorah! [996.8s] We need to find Nighthunter. [999.1s] And then you hear calling out from down the hall. [1001.6s] This is going to be fun for Russ later. [1004.7s] She's down here. Over here. [1006.3s] No, she's over here. Up here. [1007.8s] Oh, I found her up here. [1013.8s] I don't think that worked. [1014.8s] Huh. [1017.3s] Yeah, unless there's a multiple Nighthunters here, [1020.2s] and I don't think we were going that long. [1022.0s] So, shoot, I thought that might help. [1025.7s] I guess we just keep doing it the old-fashioned way, [1027.7s] and just going and... [1029.8s] Is there a way to turn off the cells? [1033.0s] Like, whatever's killing the Grancises, Grants Eye, [1037.6s] whatever's killing the Grants Eye, [1039.8s] and tormenting us in here, [1044.0s] is there a way to turn that off? [1045.8s] Because that could be what is... [1047.7s] Like, that door ain't getting closer. [1049.4s] And we've been walking for a long time. [1051.0s] Right, right, right. [1053.1s] I mean, everything has been kind of set up on automation. [1060.5s] I wasn't around when it was first initiated, [1064.2s] and there's a lot of more arcanic means [1067.6s] that are involved in it from what I've been told. [1071.0s] Who made it? [1073.2s] Well, again, it precedes my time, [1077.1s] but Lipsynche, you seem to be more in touch [1079.2s] with the arcane than myself. [1083.2s] Did you ever come across anything in your time serving, [1086.3s] in the future, current, present, past? [1088.9s] Yeah, I mean, number one, that is how we have to describe [1092.4s] anything related to time right now, I feel like. [1094.9s] Um, okay, there's gotta be a way to remotely, [1102.6s] you know, open and close things. [1105.2s] It wouldn't... [1106.0s] It can't just be manual, because this place is enormous, [1109.3s] and certainly when we were torturing people, [1114.3s] we weren't just walking way down a hall [1117.1s] and picking them up and taking them back, you know? [1119.7s] There was like, that's not how it worked. [1124.1s] You got the key, is there a lever? [1127.6s] Like a pulley system, or a switch? [1134.9s] Yeah. [1136.7s] Um, I, you know, I've never thought to try to just kind of [1141.1s] go from door to door, but uh, and Vorunax just goes over [1147.4s] to a wall, takes the spoon, and just sticks it [1150.1s] in the fleshy wall of the prison, [1152.5s] it's like, maybe that jiggles it around. [1157.1s] I don't, I don't know. [1160.3s] It's good, gotta go a little bit deeper, maybe. [1162.9s] I push deeper. [1165.6s] Oh, that sounds... [1167.6s] Wait, I thought I heard a click. [1170.1s] I didn't, I didn't hear a click, Grancis. [1172.6s] Oh, okay, no, remember how, I keep saying remember, [1177.0s] you don't remember, you weren't there, [1179.4s] but in the future, there was like a torture room, [1185.5s] and then the prisoner would be brought there, [1187.4s] but not manually, you know, [1190.6s] like they just kind of like were poured it in. [1193.7s] It was much more efficient than, you know, [1196.6s] having a guard bring somebody, I mean, that's, you know, [1200.0s] Orcus kind of lacks efficiencies, [1203.2s] and so in the torture room, [1208.4s] I mean, Night Hunter is in the torture room, [1211.4s] but I feel like if we go there, [1215.0s] then we can just bring the folks from the cells in, [1221.6s] and then... [1222.8s] Actually, yeah, it's kind of like a, you know, [1226.5s] voice command sort of thing, like, [1228.1s] oh, summon Grancis 6489572 B, [1234.5s] or we could just go say, [1236.0s] pour it in, not Grancis. [1238.7s] Exactly. [1239.6s] From this cell block. [1240.5s] Yeah. [1242.0s] That's exactly what we want. [1245.6s] You know, bring all the not Grancises, [1249.3s] every single last one of them, [1250.5s] there's probably a lot. But this is the Grancis floor. [1252.4s] It's not just Grancises in here, [1253.7s] so it's probably a lot of folks who could come help. [1256.0s] I mean, we're kind of in the Grancis wing. [1259.2s] I guess, maybe you didn't know that, I mean, [1261.0s] you wouldn't have been spending time walking around, [1262.9s] but this whole section, [1265.3s] this is all you. [1268.6s] A lot of effort. [1270.8s] I mean, you're very powerful, as we mentioned. [1273.6s] So there is other floors of the prison, [1278.3s] you know, all sorts of creatures. [1283.2s] So what's the quickest way there? [1286.1s] We got to get back in the cell? [1288.5s] No. [1290.2s] No, Grancis, it seems to be a default for you, [1292.9s] but no, no, just this way. [1296.5s] Let's book it. [1302.3s] Grancis with a book, yes. [1306.3s] I go through my keys and I pull out a spork, [1310.4s] because that's the best torture tool. [1312.3s] I've seen that one before. [1313.1s] And, oh, yes, yes. [1316.1s] It's the one that'll open the end of your life. [1319.4s] Stick it into the wall, turn the key, spork. [1323.2s] Got me scared there. [1324.0s] I was standing right beside it, [1325.8s] right as you said that. [1327.8s] Gave me flashbacks. [1329.2s] All right. [1330.4s] You throw the spork into the wall [1333.7s] and you do hear a click this time. [1337.2s] And you are instantly right beside the door. [1342.4s] That you've been trying to walk towards. [1344.0s] Perfect, perfect. [1345.6s] Here we are, through this door, [1349.0s] and hopefully we can get Nighthunter back [1352.5s] and reconvene with the rest of the peoples [1356.9s] we accidentally left behind. [1357.7s] Yes, this is a perfect plan. [1359.4s] It was an accident. It was an accident, Grancis. [1361.2s] I mean. [1362.0s] We did not run away. [1365.0s] The three of you exit through the door [1368.0s] and we cut back to the red light. [1371.8s] Thea, your hand is completely shriveled up to your elbow. [1375.4s] Does it seem like the shriveling is continuing [1378.4s] or is it maintaining in the forearm area? [1382.9s] Seems like it's [1386.8s] maintaining in the forearm area. [1389.7s] Okay, well this sucks. [1391.4s] Are these ground floor creatures, [1394.6s] do we think they're flying? [1397.3s] Should we get on Guacamole and like, I don't know, [1399.9s] try to fly our way out of here? [1402.8s] Yeah, let's do that one. [1404.9s] So we're gonna hop on Guacamole [1407.5s] and try to fly. [1410.7s] This light's coming from somewhere. [1412.9s] Yeah, it's coming from straight up. [1415.6s] Are you flying straight up towards the light [1417.2s] or are you, where are you going? [1419.8s] Oh, I think straight up towards the light. [1422.8s] All right. [1423.7s] Yeah, let's go towards that light. [1424.5s] Awesome, you hop on Guacamole [1426.8s] and you are flying up and the beam is narrowing. [1430.8s] It's now like 15 feet across and getting closer and closer. [1436.1s] Guacamole's wings are flapping [1438.2s] and you're getting closer to this light. [1439.9s] It's blinding above you. [1441.6s] Beyond the periphery, [1444.6s] you see these giant winged beasts soaring in the air, [1450.0s] zipping close to but not touching the light itself. [1454.2s] It's like 10 feet across now [1457.0s] and you see down to the ground [1459.0s] that there is like masses of undead [1462.3s] that sprawl out across whatever this space is [1466.8s] that you are in. [1468.7s] And you get up and this light is blinding above you [1472.3s] and you reach up towards the light [1476.2s] and you grasp hold of what feels like firm ground [1481.2s] and Guacamole disappears. [1486.5s] Make a dexterity saving throw. [1489.5s] Not again. [1492.1s] Both of you can do it. [1495.8s] 17. 18. [1498.3s] Bort, you reach up and grab hold of the ground above you [1502.5s] as Guacamole disappears. [1504.7s] You see Thea reach down for her [1508.2s] but not grasp hold of the ground. [1511.7s] You reach down and grab hold of her withered hand [1514.7s] that you feel crunch beneath your fist. [1520.1s] You're holding it tight and she looks back up at you [1523.6s] and she's got the Jade figurine in her hand [1527.0s] as you pull yourself and Thea up into the hallway [1535.8s] where you fell down. [1538.0s] You pull yourself up and are clamoring to get Thea up [1544.6s] as the hole around you kind of just sinks shut [1548.3s] as she is pulled back through. [1551.0s] There's a cracked open door behind you [1553.4s] and you hear footsteps coming from beyond it. [1557.7s] Oh my God. [1559.8s] Thank you. [1561.9s] Yeah, let's not go back down there again. [1564.1s] No, no. [1567.0s] And I kind of squeeze Guacamole's figurine [1573.0s] and tuck her in one of my inside pockets. [1580.6s] Footsteps beyond the door beside you. [1584.5s] I prepare a spell. [1589.2s] I prepare Eldritch Blast. [1590.5s] If I see an unfamiliar face, I'm gonna fucking fuck it up. [1593.9s] Fucking fuck it up. [1597.1s] Yes. [1598.0s] Fuck it up. [1599.0s] That's what I wanted. [1600.1s] I'm gonna pop some popcorn [1601.5s] to watch this fucking up that's coming up. [1603.7s] They're getting closer to the door [1605.6s] and it swings open and you see the face of Grancis. [1611.0s] And I have to wait, like, I have to be like, no. [1615.4s] Not today. [1617.0s] Oh shit, it's Thea. [1618.2s] Hey everybody, it's Thea. [1620.1s] I got my crackle away. [1621.5s] Hey, you were gonna blast me in the face. [1623.9s] If it wasn't you. [1625.8s] Good thing it was me. [1627.4s] Good thing. [1628.4s] Yeah, she would have got you, Lipsinki. [1631.2s] Where you been? [1632.6s] Nah, that doesn't matter. [1633.7s] We'll catch up later. [1635.4s] We gotta find Nighthunter. [1637.0s] Vorunax knows the way, or Lipsinki knows the way. [1639.8s] Somebody knows the way. [1641.4s] Did Nighthunter not just hack her way [1643.4s] out of the prison like what? [1644.8s] Well, no, she went in of their own volition [1650.0s] and when I did see them, I saw them through the bars [1655.0s] and they were talking to someone that wasn't there. [1658.8s] Oh, that's not a good sign. [1660.2s] Not a good sign. [1661.5s] They seem to be having a rough time, [1663.3s] but we think that we can call them [1665.5s] to the torture chamber. [1667.6s] Right, everybody? [1669.7s] Yeah, so if we all just wanna, [1671.2s] if you guys just wanna come in the torture chamber. [1673.0s] I mean, not. [1674.2s] Okay, I know how that sounds. [1675.7s] Yes, it wasn't great. [1677.6s] I hear it coming out and I know we don't, [1680.8s] we have had a short relationship of trust, [1685.8s] but in the torture chamber, [1688.1s] you can summon any of the prisoners [1691.4s] and if Nighthunter's a prisoner, [1692.8s] we could summon them. [1695.8s] Also, there's like an unlimited number of Grancis. [1699.4s] So if you need any Grancis for anything, [1701.5s] we have like. [1702.5s] Shake and bake, baby. [1704.3s] I don't know what that means. [1705.5s] I don't know. [1706.8s] But okay. [1708.5s] Also, sorry for abandoning you with Orcus. [1712.8s] Just wanna, we're on the move, by the way, [1715.1s] as we're doing this, I assume. [1717.0s] Yeah. [1717.8s] Yes. [1718.8s] Yeah, sorry for abandoning you back there with Orcus. [1721.8s] Oh, I mean, I'm sorry for abandoning you [1724.0s] and going back up to like get healed [1727.6s] and see my friends and family. [1729.8s] I mean. Yes, no, yes. [1731.8s] Yeah, I mean, we came right back though. [1733.7s] As soon as possible. [1734.8s] What happened to your arm? [1735.9s] We had to. [1738.0s] Well, it costs for everything [1741.0s] whenever you're on the path of good. [1743.3s] I hold up my shriveled arm [1744.6s] that still has the clawed hand in it. [1747.4s] Oh. [1748.3s] We didn't end up getting that out. [1749.1s] You pulled it out. [1750.0s] Well, I guess you tell me [1750.9s] because it was like pulling tendons and grossness. [1753.2s] Yeah, no, I said out. [1754.0s] No, stop that. [1754.9s] Okay. [1756.0s] Yeah, okay. I did. [1756.9s] So I have like half a hand attached to my arm, I guess. [1761.4s] Oh. [1762.7s] Okay, I mean. [1764.8s] Wow. [1766.6s] Let's find Nighthunter. [1768.8s] Yeah, let's get Nighthunter. [1770.2s] And then what happened? [1772.3s] Did you guys get caught or why are you in the prison? [1774.6s] Oh yeah. [1776.2s] Yeah, we got caught. [1779.3s] It sucked into, I don't know. [1781.1s] Yeah, it wasn't our finest moment. [1783.7s] Yeah, filled with terrible creatures in the dark. [1789.3s] Good old quicksand holes. [1790.8s] Yeah, and when you go through [1792.3s] there was probably like a bajillion undead [1795.6s] and like all kinds of stuff [1796.7s] and they're all just flying around and do you see that? [1799.7s] Well, at the end. [1800.6s] I mean, we can't really see it [1801.4s] but we knew it was there. [1803.4s] Right. [1804.3s] That's the best part. [1805.1s] Yeah, I forgot. [1806.0s] Cause when you're, yeah, you didn't even. [1808.0s] Breathe through the room guys. [1808.8s] I'm sorry. [1809.7s] It's not funny. [1810.6s] Not, yeah, no, I apologize. [1815.1s] You round a corner and there are two guards [1818.8s] standing outside the torture chamber. [1822.0s] They see you and they say, [1823.2s] halt, who goes there? [1825.6s] Voronox, head general. [1827.7s] Yes, of course, Mr. Voronox. [1831.8s] Yes, a head, oh yeah, you're doing, [1834.8s] you're in good. [1836.4s] They sent out a memo about you. [1839.1s] Come right this way. [1840.6s] You're in charge. [1842.5s] Of course you are. [1844.2s] Come on in. [1845.6s] The water is fine. [1846.4s] You realize if you turn on me [1848.4s] I can still murder you mercilessly. [1852.0s] Right, you understand you're just a guard. [1854.2s] Even if you know what I've done, [1856.1s] you're still just a guard. [1857.5s] I've got a name. [1858.9s] Oh yeah, I don't know it. [1860.3s] It's Sammy. [1862.3s] And I've got, I've got, I've got a family too. [1865.9s] I've just, I'm just here working, trying to. [1869.2s] Okay, I mean, Sammy, nobody cares. [1872.0s] We're going in. [1872.8s] Get out of the way, Sammy. [1873.7s] I'll go tell Orcus, it's fine. [1875.2s] You go in, you do what you gotta do. [1877.4s] Yeah. [1878.2s] Yeah, you're not gonna tell Orcus. [1879.0s] You go tell Orcus, you let his ex head general [1881.3s] right into the torture chamber [1882.8s] and see how that works out for you. [1883.9s] Could you just kill me already? [1885.6s] See how Eldritch blasts him. [1888.7s] Guys, could Sammy have been any worse? [1890.6s] Sammy was the worst. [1892.6s] Well, I mean, what's he gonna go tell Orcus? [1894.7s] Orcus ain't in a good mood right now, guys. [1896.6s] Let me tell you something. [1898.8s] There was another guard there, right? [1900.1s] Make a Sammy out of Sammy. [1902.2s] So you can either like sit here and be good [1905.8s] and chill or I can blast your ass. [1908.2s] Yeah, I don't see anything. [1909.8s] No, no, I'm just, I was on a break. [1912.5s] You were on a break. [1914.4s] What's your name? [1915.5s] I was on a break. [1916.3s] It doesn't matter. [1917.2s] You're on a break. [1918.0s] Get out of here. [1918.8s] I'd rather not say. [1919.7s] On a break. [1920.8s] Tell my family I love them. [1922.7s] It's an order. [1923.9s] Go. [1925.4s] Okay, now that that's taken care of, [1927.0s] door open. [1932.2s] Some people say that we are in the middle. [1937.7s] Some people don't know what time is. [1942.2s] That's why we're here and we talk about the things [1946.4s] that are important to us and you. [1951.7s] Whoa. [1953.0s] I, no, I was, no, I was just waiting. [1955.0s] I wanted to know how far you could go with this. [1956.9s] Yeah, well, I was. [1958.0s] It was really far. [1958.8s] Yeah, no. [1959.6s] You would have kept going. [1960.5s] I probably could have kept going. [1961.3s] It's a good thing I invited you in here. [1962.7s] Some musical interlude with Russ More over here. [1965.3s] That's right. [1966.9s] Yeah, sometimes they really work [1968.4s] and sometimes you rhyme orange. [1972.2s] So you get what you get. [1974.2s] So goes. [1975.2s] Today it was a good one. [1976.8s] Hello everybody. [1977.7s] Welcome to the middle. [1978.6s] Thank you for being here. [1980.3s] How are you? [1982.2s] I'm good. [1983.1s] Good, good, good. [1984.4s] I'm glad. [1985.9s] I wasn't sure if you were asking me, [1987.2s] but I wanted, there was a pause. [1989.6s] Well, it's a pause for you to enter [1992.4s] or for the listener to impart wisdom upon us. [1998.4s] But while we're waiting for that, [2000.1s] the wisdom that you're gonna send to us, [2001.6s] obviously through osmosis, [2003.8s] we could tell you about the great live shows [2005.8s] that we've got for our patrons. [2008.3s] Oh my goodness. [2009.5s] At Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [2011.9s] Okay, so our next live show is in September, [2014.8s] which is awesome. [2015.9s] And it's the 26th. [2017.1s] It's a Tuesday, cause it always is. [2018.8s] Yeah. [2019.6s] And gotta be one of our patron people. [2022.9s] Yes. [2023.8s] Yeah, it is an exclusive thing [2027.1s] that we're doing for our patrons this year. [2029.1s] Once every quarter, you get to come to a live show [2031.8s] when you're a part of the community. [2033.7s] And if you sign up now, Patreon.com slash dumb dragon [2036.8s] cast, you get a seven day free trial. [2039.5s] While you're waiting for that next live show, [2042.1s] we have several live shows up there. [2044.4s] The video rewatches of the one we did with Kristen [2047.8s] that was lost to time because technology, [2050.9s] like the video still exists, but the audio does not. [2054.2s] So just be aware of that. [2055.1s] Yeah. [2055.9s] Well, the audio on the video exists, [2057.7s] but the audio to release later, you know what I mean. [2060.4s] Yep. [2061.3s] And then the one we just did, [2062.3s] which has not been released anywhere publicly yet, [2065.6s] which was an absolute blast, [2068.0s] was just the four of us and our great, great patrons. [2071.2s] And what happened in it? [2074.4s] God, I don't know. [2075.2s] The podcast amnesia is hard, [2076.8s] but all I know is that I always laugh so much [2080.0s] because our patrons are so funny. [2082.7s] And they are great on the rewatch, [2084.3s] but they are more great. [2086.3s] It's like when you're there live, [2088.3s] because it's like going to a physical live space. [2091.3s] And oh boy, wouldn't it be just great [2093.3s] if we were in a live space [2095.2s] and we had people who could scream at us. [2097.8s] That would be cool. [2099.3s] But this is as close as we can get right now. [2101.3s] So Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast, [2103.4s] we hope to see you over there. [2104.3s] Thank you so much for supporting the show [2106.6s] by listening this far. [2108.9s] And now we'll get you back to the episode, [2112.7s] this episode that you are enjoying. [2115.3s] Okay, thanks. [2116.3s] Love you, bye. [2117.1s] Love you, bye. [2118.2s] You stroll into the torture chamber [2120.3s] and Vorunax, describe to me this torture chamber [2124.1s] as it's set up before you. [2125.5s] So it's kind of a mutable situation [2128.4s] where you think of what you need [2132.3s] or how you wanna go about it, [2135.5s] doing the deed of what happens in this room. [2138.5s] And it just kind of like [2141.6s] amorphizes out of the walls and floor and ceiling. [2145.7s] So really, whenever you walk in, [2148.6s] the first person to walk in, [2149.7s] it kind of instantly goes to what's first on their mind. [2152.7s] So as Vorunax leads into the room, [2156.1s] it is set up with a nice couch [2159.6s] and a table with some tea prepared and everything. [2164.4s] And as soon as he sees it, he goes, [2166.9s] oh, normal settings to hang with people. [2173.1s] It looks like you're about to get comfy, [2176.0s] have a little situation in here. [2178.0s] It looks like I'm about to host a party [2179.8s] and I didn't know. [2182.8s] Did people RSVP? [2184.5s] I fucking hope not. [2185.8s] No, this is not, [2187.1s] somebody else think of something quick [2189.3s] because I'm thinking of my own torture at this point. [2192.8s] It turns into a kitchen [2194.3s] and there's pancake batter everywhere. [2197.6s] This is amenable. [2200.5s] Who's is this? [2201.3s] So how do we get Night Hunter in here? [2202.8s] We just gotta think? [2204.2s] Well, I mean, I think you do [2206.0s] because this is your whole scene, I'm assuming, [2209.5s] with the pancakes and- [2210.4s] Well, we just gotta whip up some batter [2211.8s] then get those gears a turning. [2215.1s] All right, so somebody pass me the flour. [2218.3s] Oh, God, does he have to make the pancakes [2220.9s] in order to get Night Hunter? [2222.2s] No. [2223.0s] You don't need to make the- [2224.0s] This is my dream state that you've given me. [2226.4s] That you need Night Hunter. [2227.8s] Pour the milk. [2230.6s] I mean, time's kind of of the essence, [2232.3s] so I feel like- [2233.2s] Wow, this is torture. [2234.3s] Oh, no. [2235.4s] No, it's okay. [2236.7s] We got the milk, we got the eggs, [2237.9s] we got the blueberries, we got the little bit of love. [2241.5s] Okay, so take all that, put all that together. [2243.8s] Here's the milk. [2244.7s] It goes into every batch. [2246.5s] It's a process, Farnox, it's a process. [2249.7s] You put me here and now we're dealing with it. [2253.4s] You know, you have been in this position [2257.3s] more than anybody else. [2259.8s] I think it is only right that you lead. [2264.0s] Have your recompense upon this blasted room [2267.3s] that has seen you die innumerable amount of times. [2271.0s] So many. [2273.0s] Make us a pancake Night Hunter. [2276.4s] Okay, I'm gonna put it in the piping bag. [2278.7s] Make it real nice. [2280.8s] He starts doing the pancake art on the griddle [2284.2s] as you're in the shape of Night Hunter. [2286.4s] So you put the outline first, of course, [2288.8s] so that it blackens up a little more [2292.1s] and then he fills it in. [2294.7s] And he's making this life-size. [2297.8s] And as he- [2299.9s] Oh, you got the body flipper? [2303.6s] Yes, we have the body flipper. [2306.8s] It's gonna take a couple of good hands here. [2310.0s] Hey, Flindy Borty. [2314.4s] I don't know who you are anymore. [2316.3s] It doesn't matter. [2317.2s] Come give us a hand. [2318.0s] Okay, ready? [2319.1s] Three, two, one, go! [2323.4s] Pancake flops down and you see the perfect design [2328.8s] and Night Hunter begins to appear up and out [2334.9s] of this pancake. [2336.0s] What the fuck are we making? [2337.0s] I'm not entirely sure. [2337.9s] Is it kind of like when you lay someone's clothes out [2340.1s] and then all of a sudden it fills with their body? [2342.9s] Exactly like that. [2344.1s] It's like the scene from Beetlejuice [2346.1s] where Alec Baldwin and they get summoned up [2349.8s] through the clothes. [2350.7s] I was kind of picturing the Ace Ventura [2352.6s] out of the Rhino. [2355.7s] Yeah, that's what it is, yeah. [2357.5s] So it's a pancake Night Hunter giving birth [2359.7s] to a Night Hunter? [2360.6s] Giving birth to a Night Hunter, yeah. [2363.1s] That's high concept stuff we're doing here, you guys. [2366.0s] Really breaking new ground is every day. [2371.0s] And up out of this Night Hunter loin [2375.1s] comes a new Night Hunter. [2380.2s] Everyone is uncomfortable. [2381.5s] We will be talking to H.R. later. [2384.2s] Never say loin again. [2385.5s] It's too late, I already did. [2387.1s] People can just hit skip back [2388.7s] and I will just keep saying it [2390.0s] over and over and over again. [2392.1s] Oh no, that's horrible. [2394.0s] Comes not just a new Night Hunter, [2395.8s] the Night Hunter out of whatever cell [2398.8s] she was being held in. [2403.1s] Hey, we did it. [2404.9s] Grancis, you did it. [2407.1s] I mean, I gotta give him credit. [2408.6s] His methods are unorthodox, [2410.2s] but they work. [2411.0s] Makes the dream work, oh boy. [2412.6s] That's right. [2413.8s] Elia? [2415.6s] Where is Elia? [2416.6s] Oh, it's the, it's who, or Night Hunter was talking to. [2422.1s] Yes, she was in cell with me. [2424.3s] Now I see all you, hello. [2426.2s] I hope that your time here has been very nice. [2429.6s] But Elia was with me, has anybody seen her? [2433.2s] Who? [2435.0s] Yeah, I mean, Elia hasn't been with you. [2438.4s] Yeah, she stayed back in Mastika. [2443.1s] She, yeah, she was in Mastika, remember, [2445.9s] in Fatton, and then you came through the portal to... [2447.8s] I remember that, but then she was there inside my cell. [2452.4s] We were talking, and, [2456.2s] and, you know, I just kind of, it was quiet. [2459.8s] It was kind of nice, frankly. [2462.3s] What happened to Arn? [2464.9s] Night Hunter? [2466.2s] Yes. [2469.0s] You were under the machinations of Orcus's torture. [2475.0s] Unfortunately, it drew upon something or someone [2480.7s] that you desire to be with, and use that against you. [2485.4s] The person you spoke to was not there. [2487.6s] But it was not torture, it was, it was nice. [2490.6s] I have not seen Elia since I left. [2494.0s] And, and it was, it was good, I don't know. [2498.0s] It may not seem like torture in the moment, [2502.0s] but there's a sick pleasure being drawn [2507.6s] from the facade that you were going through. [2510.5s] Well, I do not like that. [2513.8s] I do not like being tricked. [2516.3s] However, it was very unreal. [2518.4s] I'm not sure what to think. [2520.6s] Perhaps we can go back to Mastika, [2523.7s] and I see if Elia is still there. [2526.6s] I think that sounds like a plan. [2530.2s] There's the rumble in the ground beneath you [2533.8s] is intensifying. [2535.6s] All of the utensils within this kitchen [2539.8s] are shaking and falling off the walls. [2543.4s] Batter is being thrown everywhere. [2545.9s] Cupboards are being, are dropping [2548.4s] and shattering on the ground. [2552.8s] I didn't make that happen. [2555.8s] I think we gotta, I think we gotta get moving back [2557.7s] to back up to the room. [2564.8s] Yeah. [2566.5s] Yeah, we do. [2568.8s] You said that we had an unlimited amount of Grancises? [2573.9s] Yeah, I mean, there's a whole Grancis wing. [2576.6s] Well, our original goal was to get to the prison [2582.1s] and set free the prisoners [2585.5s] because they probably hate on Orcus [2587.9s] as much as we do or possibly more [2591.0s] because the, I don't know how many of us are here anymore, [2593.9s] but we're not gonna be enough. [2596.5s] I'm not trying to be a downer. [2598.3s] No, that's a, so you guys headed to the prison [2601.2s] because you wanted to free the prisoners [2603.5s] to like rally them to our cause of goodness. [2608.3s] Absolutely. [2609.1s] Yeah, we gotta boost our numbers. [2611.3s] Oh, I love that. [2612.8s] What if, what if, whatever. [2614.5s] Okay, hold on. [2615.4s] What if you all go slow him down as much as you can [2619.5s] and I summon all the Grancises and they file out here, [2623.0s] all the ones that are alive. [2624.7s] I don't think the ones that are dead are gonna help us. [2627.3s] Summon all the alive Grancises and file out, [2630.0s] kind of like that scene in Fantasia [2631.9s] where all the broomsticks are coming [2633.4s] and pulling all the. [2635.0s] Can you stop and get a Demogorgon or two? [2637.7s] Oh, I think there's only one of those, [2639.0s] but I will grab one. [2640.0s] Okay. Yeah. [2641.3s] It seemed pissed. [2643.6s] Yeah, no, I think we tried to avoid that wing, right? [2647.4s] Right there, Bort? [2648.6s] Yeah. [2650.4s] But you know, times are tough. [2651.8s] That's fine, maybe old Demogorgon's got something to say. [2656.2s] Send one of the other Grancises. [2657.9s] Yeah, yeah, Grancis 1694. [2661.2s] Sure, yeah, that one's an asshole. [2662.8s] He's a real dick. [2665.0s] And I mean, even if the Demogorgon [2667.8s] or the other prisoners don't wanna come help, [2671.6s] I mean, they're just gonna be causing more chaos [2673.9s] for other folks to be dealing with. [2675.9s] So I say. That's right. [2677.2s] Distractions. [2678.9s] Bust everybody out of the prison and. [2681.3s] Okay, okay. [2683.2s] It seems like a good way to make a lot of chaos [2687.1s] and a lot of problems for Orcus, which sounds good. [2691.6s] Sounds perfect. [2692.6s] All right, go slow them down. [2694.4s] I'll bring reinforcements. [2696.0s] For the first time in present and in future [2699.6s] of Arnox's timeline, you see him unclip his key ring [2704.0s] from his side says, Grancis, [2705.8s] show us the meaning of chaos. [2708.3s] And he hands it over to him. [2709.7s] Oh boy. [2717.3s] And we cut to the throne room of Orcus. [2723.0s] And Orcus is standing before this flame in the center [2726.8s] that is just roiling up to the ceiling. [2729.9s] And he's. [2732.7s] He's letting out this yell that's echoing out [2737.0s] the entire room. [2738.1s] And you see Shangalar, his arms are full [2740.6s] of all these skulls. [2742.3s] He's kinda got them stuffed into pockets. [2744.5s] I got them all. [2745.8s] I got them all. [2746.6s] Look at it. [2747.5s] Look at it. [2748.3s] Look at it, I got them all. [2749.2s] He's just, he reaches down and he picks Shangalar up [2753.8s] and the door kicks open. [2757.8s] And all of you are standing there. [2761.1s] You see this scene of Orcus with Shangalar in his hand [2766.5s] with a cluster of who knows how many [2769.9s] of these essence of God skulls. [2773.6s] And he turns and he looks at you [2775.0s] and Shangalar looks at you and says, [2776.2s] you're too late. [2777.3s] You're too late fuckers. [2779.5s] A bright light flashes in the center of Orcus [2784.2s] and Shangalar is blinded and his skin is burning [2790.6s] and bubbling from the radiant damage that he's taking. [2796.2s] And then Orcus takes half, 38 points of damage. [2803.7s] Shangalar's skin is bubbling [2805.6s] and Orcus shields his eyes with the Shangalar hand [2808.8s] and looks down at you and just like this sickening, [2812.8s] you can't see his face beneath the goat's skull. [2816.5s] That's, he uses a mask over top of it [2819.7s] but there's this grin that's beneath him [2822.9s] and he throws Shangalar and all of the essence [2826.6s] of God into his mouth and you hear this sickening crunch [2832.4s] and this energy washes down over him [2837.4s] and Orcus begins to grow. [2841.0s] His skin begins to convulse and pop [2845.5s] and bones stick out and heal themselves [2849.8s] and he steps into this flame that begins [2853.6s] to widen in front of him as it opens this view [2859.0s] into the material plane and we see. [2862.6s] We just came back from there. [2864.6s] And we see an unassuming water deep. [2869.2s] From where you're standing, [2870.5s] you can see through this portal. [2873.4s] From the sides around you, [2875.0s] you hear the movement of all those demonic creatures [2877.9s] as they rush towards it and push you back. [2882.0s] They're pouring out into the world. [2888.8s] Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, [2906.1s] And then you hear as it slows, [2914.3s] you hear like this patting. [2916.7s] At the tapestry beside you on a wall, [2921.2s] far some 50 or 60 feet off into the distance. [2928.1s] You turn and you look as it stands out [2931.2s] more than anything that you're seeing around you. [2934.7s] You hear a small voice come from behind. [2946.0s] The tapestry came from a wall. [2948.6s] So there's no hand. [2950.3s] No, there's no hand. [2951.4s] Oh, the edge of it. [2952.2s] Oh, this is enormous.
